OfficeWorks prohibits the sale of April paper products to help protect the habitat of the Sumatran tiger
In a big step in the right direction, Officeworks took decisive measures to save endangered species, prohibiting the sale of paper products made by Asia pulp and paper giant, April.
The positive movement came after it was revealed that the April paper products were being made of forests are vital for the survival of the Sumatran tiger.
After taking this bold action to protect forests, it is now up to really catch the Officeworks Tiger by the tail and help save the endangered animals of Victoria, possum the Leadbeater, removing paper products also reflection of its stores.
Australian paper, creators of reflection with the trademark paper products, currently uses native forests from Central Victoria to make many of its products. The Central Highlands contain native forests of high conservation value and is the last refuge of the endangered Leadbeater Possum.
"The next logical step is to immediately demand that Officeworks Australian paper manufacturers reflection paper, move entirely out of native forests to plantations," said Luke Chamberlain, our Victorian Campaign Manager.
This will help secure Australian jobs in wood resources of vast plantations of Australia after years of jobs in logging of native forests.
"There is a real opportunity for Australian jobs, based on a paper of progressive plantation industry which is a real alternative to the destruction of native forests in Brazil and abroad. OfficeWorks and Australian paper may become real market leaders, for the benefit of both, "he added.
Recently, Australian paper has lost the ability to print the internationally recognized logo of FSC certification (Forest Stewardship) in the role of reflection in a huge blow to the credibility of the company.
